    1. Please prepare one song from the Musical Theater canon no longer than 32 bars and one Pop Rock song no longer than 16 bars
    2. Please have a third, contrasting 32-bar cut prepared. Faculty may ask to see this cut.

    1. Prepare one 60 second monologue. 
      • Must be from a play. Film or television show monologues are also acceptable. No monologues from musicals. Contemporary monologues preferred but not required.
      • Make sure that your selection is appropriate for your age.
      • The selection should NOT require dialect, costume or props
    2. Please have a second, contrasting 60 second monologue prepared. Faculty may ask to see this monologue.

  • DANCE REQUIREMENTS

    • Dance calls will be held in-person for auditionees attending Unifieds and On-Campus callbacks. These dates/times will be part of scheduling your callback. One theatre jazz combination will be taught. Please wear appropriate dance attire. Dancers may choose to dance in flat jazz shoes or character heels/oxfords.

    • Virtual auditionees will submit videos in place of the dance call. Details on how to submit your video and a link to the dance combination will be included in your callback letter. 

      Deadline for virtual callback video submissions is Jan. 5, 2026 at midnight.

  • ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS

    • This date/time will be part of scheduling your callback.

      As an auditionee for Musical Theatre you are required to attend ONE of the Program Overview sessions, we hope your families will also join us as well.

    • Current Texas State Parents along with a head of the Musical Theatre program will meet with prospective families to answer any additional questions and offer resources.

Note: These materials can be the same as your prescreen materials.

College Audition Coach Clients Only

Moonified Callbacks

This information only pertains to College Audition Coach clients attending Moonifieds.

What to Prepare for Dallas:

  1. Please review the song and acting callback requirements.

Dance Requirement:

  • You will participate in a in-person dance call as part of your Moonified schedule.

Attendance Requirement:

  • Program Overview
    • You will participate in our program overview as part of your Moonified schedule. Parents/Guardians are welcome.
  • Parent Panel (Optional)
    • There will be no parent panel at Moonifieds, but you and your families are welcome to join us virtually either:
      • January 17
      • February 14

Moonifieds will serve as a final callback. 

Priority Hold or Release notifications will be made before January 1, 2026.

Callbacks will be held via Zoom

January & February 2026

Virtual Callbacks

All callback slots will be in Central Time. 

For our international and out-of-state students, if your current slot does not work for you because of the time difference, please let us know. Please see our Virtual Callback Technical Recommendations. All Zoom links will be provided at least a week prior to the event.

Virtual Callbacks Include:

  • A overview of our program and a Q&A with our current Musical Theatre faculty and students.
  • A Q&A with parents of current Musical Theatre students.
  • Performing callback material and participating in a work session and interview/chat.

What to Prepare:

  • Please review the song and acting callback requirements.

Dance Requirement:

  • You will submit a virtual dance video in place of an in person dance call. This will be submitted no later than January 5, 2026 by 11:59 PM.

  • A masterclass with members of our Musical Theatre Faculty
  • A dance call led by members of our Musical Theatre Faculty

Chicago Callbacks

All callback slots will be in Central Time! Texas State University callbacks for Chicago Unifieds will be located at the Ballet Chicago (17 N State St 19th floor.). 

The Program Overview, Dance Call, and Individual Audition will all be in the different studios, but the same floor/building. Studio details will be included in your callback letter. Ballet Chicago is a short walk from the Palmer House hotel. 

Please note that no accompanist will be provided, please bring your own tracks and a speaker.

Chicago Unifieds Includes:

  • A overview of our program and a Q&A with our current Musical Theatre faculty and students.
  • Performing callback material and participating in a work session and interview/chat.
  • A dance call led by members of our Musical Theatre Faculty

Program Overviews, Dance Calls, and Individual Callbacks do not need to be attended on the same day.

What to Prepare:

  • Please review the song and acting callback requirements.

Dance Requirement:

  • You will participate in a dance call on either February 1, 2, or 3. A dance call is not offered on February 4. Limited slots per dance call are available.

Attendance Requirement:

  • Program Overview
    • You and your family will participate in a program overview session on either either February 1, 2, or 3. An overview will not be offered February 4.
  • Parent Panel (Optional)
    • There will be no parent panel in Chicago, but you and your families are welcome to join us virtually either:
