Classes You'll Take
Scenic Area

We offer professional training in Technical Direction, Rigging, Automation, Scenic Painting and Carpentry at Texas State University. Students can take on assignments in each of these areas for course credit as well as take our extensive list of specialized electives.
The scenic studio features two scene shop spaces complete with top of the line tools including a 4x8 Shopbot Computer Numeric Controlled Router(CNC), a plasma CNC, MIG/TIG/Stick Welding, 3D Printers, and much more!
Our spaces are equipped with top of the line rigging components including a single-purchase fly system, a motorized fly system, deployable CM Chain Motor and Truss inventory, and all of the components to learn modern safe rigging practices.
Our Automation Inventory includes 4-axis of movement utilizing the newest Creative Conners automation equipment. We can lift, rotate, and move almost any scenery or people using motorized technology. Our inventory also includes all of the components to add pneumatic actuation to a show.
Our paint studio is equipped to train students on all painting techniques.

Lighting Area

We offer professional training in lighting design, electrics, and programming for the entertainment industry at Texas State University. Students can take on assignments in lighting for course credit as well as take our extensive list of specialized electives.
Our lighting studio features ETC ION consoles, Hog consoles, conventional fixtures as well as a stock of moving light fixtures and LEDs, practical wiring inventory, and a light laboratory to hone skills before taking them to any of our professional theaters.

Costume Area

We offer professional training in costume design and costume technology including patternmaking, costume construction, fabric manipulation, costume crafts, wardrobe, wigs and make-up. Students can take on assignments in costumes for course credit as well as take our extensive list of specialized electives.
Our costume studio features domestic and industrial sewing machines, industrial sergers, gravity feed irons, Cricut machine, embroidery machine, grommet foot press, cover stitch machine, and much more!
