Graduate Programs

We currently offer a 60 hour MFA in Theatre, with concentrations in Directing and Design (scenic, lighting, and costume).

MFA in Theatre

This intensive MFA concentration in design offers candidates a comprehensive study in scenic, lighting, costume design, or multidisciplinary artistry. Candidates will have hands-on experience completing coursework, studio series, internships, and multiple creative projects.

MFA in Theatre

The directing program at TXST cultivates directors to become creative leaders in the American theatre. Through focused training in text analysis, point of view, style, and hands-on production experience, TXST directors deepen their craft and clarify their directorial voice.

Directing applicants

The M.F.A. in Theatre requires students to work together closely; therefore, potential candidates in the directing concentration need to bring skills, temperaments, and goals that are in cohesion with the department and the cohort of students they will join. For this reason, semi-finalists will be invited to on-campus or virtual interviews/auditions.
